Pull out trash can, the invisible helper in the kitchen

In our store, we often discuss the importance of having a tidy and functional kitchen, as well as selecting the right fittings. This also brings us to the topic of waste disposal and separation, where pull-out trash cans are at the forefront.

In this article, we will list the advantages, quality features, and disadvantages of certain pull-out trash cans.

Advantages of pull-out trash cans:

  • The trash is hidden: One of the biggest advantages is that the trash can is simply hidden inside the kitchen cabinet, which significantly contributes to a cleaner, tidier look of the kitchen.
  • Pets can’t get to the trash can: Because the trash can is safely stored in the cabinet, it is protected from the curious noses and paws of pets.
  • Odor-free kitchen: Because the trash can is enclosed inside the cabinet, often also covered with lids, pull-out trash cans significantly reduce the spread of unpleasant odors throughout the kitchen.

Quality features:

  • Quality materials: Quality slides and container material (quality plastic) are of key importance.
  • Soft closing: The soft closing function is a detail that many appreciate. It prevents noisy closing and thus increases the comfort of living.
  • Design: In the kitchen, the details inside the cabinets are just as important. The color and design must be consistent with the rest of the fittings and hardware.
  • Practical opening and closing: The pull-out trash can is practical if the cabinet door is attached to the frame, so that when the door is pulled out, the bins also open. There is also an option to open it with your foot using the ENVI Kick pedal.
  • Easy installation: Many buyers are not skilled handymen. They appreciate the ease of assembly and installation.
  • Multiple bins – Waste separation: A pull-out trash can that allows easy separation of different types of waste. Minimum 2 bins for paper and plastic recycling. Option with 3 bins: paper, plastic, and composting.
  • Standard trash bags fit: A small but important feature is that the bins are of standard dimensions, so there is no need to look for special-sized trash bags.
  • Different dimensions of the systems: 1. Pull-out trash bins are available for different widths of cabinets (300mm,400mm,450mm,600mm). 2. For different heights: lower versions for a cabinet under the sink or drawer, and versions with high bins to use the entire height of the cabinet.

Disadvantages that some people notice:

  • Poor quality of slides: Some users report problems with the slides, which can affect the operation of the pull-out. Here we would like to emphasize that the cleaning of the space on the bottom of the cabinet and the slides is also important.
  • Small capacity – frequent emptying: Certain models have a bin capacity that is too small, which requires frequent emptying, which can be annoying.
  • No lid – odors inside the cabinet: If the pull-out trash can does not have its lid, odors can spread inside the cabinet itself, which is not ideal.
  • Difficult installation: Contrary to the easy installation that some emphasize, others have encountered a difficult challenge during assembly. The instructions are poor.
  • Clutter inside the cabinet: Some users do not like the solution, due to the possibility of dirt accumulating inside the cabinet, between the slides, and under the bins.
  • Difficult access: Some find that certain models of pull-out trash cans are awkward to access and that both hands are required to open and close, which is not the most practical, especially while cooking.

We sincerely hope that the above characteristics will help you somewhat in choosing the right pull-out trash can for your needs. The choice ultimately depends on your priorities, the size of your kitchen, and your lifestyle. A pull-out trash can is like an invisible helper in the kitchen; if it is good, it is not noticeable and, above all, it does not smell.
