The edge band for chipboard is intended for edging laminated chipboard. It can be used to edge straight or rounded edges and thus close the visible raw edge of the chipboard. This edge band has hot melt adhesive applied to the underside. It is activated or glued by placing the band on the edge and then placing a hot iron on the tape to melt the adhesive. When the adhesive starts to show signs of melting (tiny bubbles), remove the iron and press and rub the surface with a smaller piece of wood. Since the edge band is wider than the chipboard, trim the excess edge and sand the edge a little more to make it smooth to the touch. To trim the tape, you can use a special edge banding knife, a wide carpenter’s chisel, or a utility knife.

If the edging of the band was unsuccessful, heat the edge band again and remove it, then repeat the process with a new piece.
